Maison Rive Gauche is a modern 3 bedroomed house near to the town centre of Carcassonne. The ground floor has a small, but perfectly adequate kitchen and a large dual aspect dining/lounge area which makes it both light and airy. One set of French doors leads on to a small terrace at the back of the property and another set at the front, on to a second terrace and small garden area, both of which are suitable for alfresco dining. There is also a downstairs toilet.
Upstairs there are 3 well furnished bedrooms, one double room, one twin and one single room. There is a family bathroom and separate WC. All of the bedrooms have roll down shutters to keep out the hot, midday sun. The complex has a large pool, exclusively for the use of guests and residents and is open during the summer months.
The town centre is just a 5 minute walk from the house, offering a wide selection of bars, restaurants, cafes and shops.
The most renowned attractions in the area are “La Cité”, the medieval walled city and the Canal du Midi, both of which are World Heritage Sites and should not be missed.
Maison Rive Gauche is an excellent base from which to sample the wide variety of activities that are available in the region. In addition to great walks, the more adventurous might enjoy kayaking, canoeing and white water rafting that are all reached within a short drive. Lac de la Cavayere, a man made beach and lake just outside Carcassonne, is a short drive away. Here there is a sandy beach, swimming, picnic areas, walks and other leisure activities including an excellent treetop adventure course for all ages.It is only a short train or car journey to the bustling city of Toulouse, an hour from the coast, and approx. 2 hours drive to Barcelona.
This part of the Aude has a sunny climate boasting up to 300 days of sunshine each year. Languedoc offers something for everyone. Miles of long, sandy beaches, Cathar castles, fabulous scenery, great cuisine and vineyards in abundance. However, there is much more to see in this delightful region. The surrounding area is one of outstanding natural beauty and nearby places such as Limoux, Mirepoix, Fanjeau, Montolieu to name but a few, are all pretty and interesting. Further afield, Narbonne, Montpellier, Toulouse and Pezenas are all well worth a visit.
It is surrounded by mountains. The Pyrenees and Black mountains are within easy reach for winter sports or just a relaxing day out, picnicking in the countryside, taking in the magnificent views. Whether you’re looking for historic buildings, a short city break, vineyards, beaches, a winter ski/snowboarding resort, or just a peaceful mountain village, you’ll find it all in the Languedoc-Roussillon region.
